Walk into Holy Cross Catholic International School on any given morning, and you will hear many accents, see many cultures, and meet families from many traditions. You will also notice something that unites them: a shared commitment to learning, kindness and respect. As an international Catholic school offering the Cambridge curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 13, we nurture faith in a diverse community every day. Here is how we do it.

Rooted in Our Catholic Identity.

First, we speak plainly about who we are. Our school is Catholic, and we celebrate that identity with confidence. We gather for Mass, pray together, observe the liturgical seasons and weave Gospel values into school life. St. Joseph, our patron saint, guides us. He worked quietly, protected his family and treated others with fairness, and we hold him up as a model for every student and staff member.

However, a strong identity does not require a closed door. Because we know what we believe, we welcome others without fear and with genuine warmth.

Welcoming Every Family

Our community includes Catholic students and students from other Christian denominations. We admit each of them as valued members of the school family. Parents know our Catholic ethos before they enrol, so every family joins us with clear expectations and an open invitation to ask questions.

Moreover, we treat each child as a unique person with inherent dignity. Catholic Social Teaching calls us to do exactly that, and we apply it in every classroom and corridor.

Teaching About Faith, Not Forcing It

We distinguish carefully between formation and pressure. Our Religious Education lessons explore Catholic teachings, Scripture and moral questions, and they also invite students to ask honest questions and think critically. Teachers explain, discuss and listen. They never coerce.

For example, students of other christian denominations join our assemblies and school celebrations as respectful participants, and we encourage them to share their own traditions when appropriate. Likewise, our Catholic students learn about the beliefs of their classmates, which deepens their understanding of their own faith and of the world.

Practising Respect Every Day

Respect shows up in small, daily choices. Our teachers model courtesy and curiosity. Our students learn to disagree kindly, listen carefully and speak about beliefs without mockery. In addition, our school culture does not tolerate bullying or discrimination of any kind, and we act quickly when a concern arises.

Meanwhile, we mark important moments together. We celebrate Advent and Lent, as a school and we also recognise the cultural and religious festivals that matter to our families. As a result, every child feels seen.

Connecting Faith with the Cambridge Classroom

Cambridge education encourages inquiry, independent thinking and global awareness. Catholic tradition has always valued big questions about truth, justice and purpose. Therefore, the two fit together naturally. In History, students explore migration and human rights. In Literature, they study how belief shapes stories. In the Sciences, they discuss ethics and responsibility.

Consequently, our students learn that faith and reason work together, and that a well-formed conscience belongs in every subject.

Partnering with Parents

Finally, we walk alongside families. We communicate openly about our faith practices, answer questions with patience and listen when parents share concerns. Parents from every background know they can speak with our teachers, chaplaincy team and school leaders. Together, we help each child grow in character, knowledge and compassion.

A Community Where Everyone Belongs

Our approach is simple. We stay faithful to our Catholic mission, and we welcome every student with respect. This is how we nurture faith in a diverse community: with clarity, generosity and a shared belief that every person matters. As our first Year 13 cohort prepares to step into the wider world, we trust that they will carry this lesson with them wherever they go.
